Art Journal Page: Love & Kindness

Hi Friends!

I'm so happy you've taken the time to visit me here. I truly appreciate it :) It is an honor for me to be guest designing for Rubber Dance Stamps today, they have a new theme challenge with the theme "Rule of three. Use three of anything. This can be 3 stamped images, 3 buttons, 3 layers of patterned paper, what you like." You can check out the challenge HERE and also have a look at their beautiful stamps HERE

For the challenge, I decided to make an Art Journal Page titled "Love & Kindness" because I think those are the 2 things most important in our lives; to experience, give and also receive love and kindness is to live. I've used some metallic acrylic paint on the page so the grass and sky are shiny is some places though it doesn't show up on the pictures.

I have captured the theme of threes in the following way:

-3 words in the title "love & kindness"
-3 stamps used for main images: Textured Spring, Textured Summerflower and Dragonflies
-3 colors used besides black and white: hues of greens, blues and purple
-Stencil work added at 3 spots

Synopsis of the Process:

To prep the page, first, applied white gesso and then added color using various mediums. Basically hues of green to create greenery on the bottom and drips of color on the top to depict the sky. Used an aqua brush to move the colors around. Then stamped the images using versafine onyx black ink. Then added a little color to the flowers using zig markers and an aqua brush. Then did some random background stamping for added interest. Further did stenciling at 3 spots on the page first with a blending foam and tool and distress ink and then over top that with a black brush pen to add grunge. Then created blue, green and purple colored splatter with watered down inks. Then added the title using stickers and created an edge around it with a brush pen and an aqua brush. Then darkened the edges of the page with a brush pen and added some additional details with zig markers and an aqua brush.

List of Supplies:

Rubber Dance Stamps: Textured Spring, Textured Summerflower, Dragonflies and Something Wonderful
Versafine Onyx Black Mini Inkpad
Ranger's Archival Ink- Jet Black
Camlin- White Gesso
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens
